After a lengthy time off the courts following a shutout win over Duquesne on February 26, the Flyers returned to the courts Saturday looking a little bit rusty. Playing against A-10 newcomer Charlotte, the Flyers took it on the cheek enduring a 7-0 blowout loss. With the defeat, the Flyers fell to 7-5 on the spring season. The 49ers were the pre-season favorite to win the conference championship and they lived up to the billing on Saturday. UD had been on a tear, however, recently the Flyers have dropped two of three (following a season high five match win streak).

The Flyers were unable to score a point in either singles or doubles on Saturday, dropping all of their matches. Junior Tom Murphy suffered his first loss against an A-10 opponent 6-3, 6-0 to Roy Sichel (ranked 83rd in the nation). Sophomore James O'Connell also dropped a match to a conference foe for the first time Saturday, at second singles he was defeated 6-3, 6-0 by Ryan Johnson.

At doubles, two matches went into tie-breakers but UD was unable to secure a point.

The 7-5 Flyers will be busy over the next week playing five more times before classes resume on campus. Next up for Dayton will be a host of matches at Hilton Head, South Carolina, the first of which will take place tomorrow.
