DUKES EDGE FLYERS, 4-3, AS ROHANA WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT

Dayton was victorious at No's. 1, 2 and 3 singles, but dropped a 4-3 decision to Duquesne on Sunday at Dayton Center Courts. Sophomore Michael Rohana posted his fourth consecutive victory at No. 1 singles to lead the Flyers, which fell to 7-9 on the season. Rohana's 6-2, 7-5 win over Duquesne's Alex Mast marked his third win this week over Atlantic 10 opponents. He is now 9-6 overall. Rohana is tied for the team lead in singles victories with sophomore Matt Sherman, who kept pace with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3 over Zach Skorupka to earn his ninth victory. Senior James O'Connell also entered the win column with a 6-2, 6-2 defeat of Michael Ortega at No. 2. However, the Dukes were victorious at all three singles matches in the bottom half of the lineup. Duquesne also swept the doubles point to begin the match, winning all three courts 8-5 and giving the Dukes the 4-3 overall victory. Dayton will wrap up a three-match homestand on Wednesday, March 12 against Ohio Northern at 6 p.m. ET. |
