St. Louis, MO - The UD men's tennis squad found themselves on the losing end of another close match on Saturday afternoon at Creve Coeur Racquet Club in St. Louis, Missouri. With the loss to Washington University the Flyers overall spring record dips to 1-4, although the team split their matches this weekend with two St. Louis-based squads.

The Bears, ranked eighth in the NCAA Division-III polls, managed to split the singles matches with Dayton before taking two of three doubles contests to seal the win.

Senior Tom Murphy (5-0) continued his red-hot start to the 2007 season cruising past WU's John Watts 6-2, 6-2. Watts is currently ranked #3 in the NCAA D-III singles polls. Junior James O'Connell (4-1) moved up to second singles against the Bears and earned a win over WU's Chris Hoeland 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore David Peyton (2-4) was also a winner for Dayton at the six spot, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, over Trevis Bowman.

Dayton scored their only other point at third doubles where freshmen Matt Sherman and Michael Rohana defeated Charlie Howard and Watts 8-6. It was Rohana and Sherman's first collegiate doubles win.

Dayton (1-4) will now take a three day breather before heading to Fort Wayne, Indiana to take on IPFW in an away match. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
