2007-08: Went 10-16 overall in singles, and 7-21 in doubles...Compiled an 8-12 singles mark in the spring as he saw action in each of the top three spots of the lineup...Played eight spring doubles matches at the No. 1 position...Tallied a three-match singles win streak midway through the spring season with wins over Nick Camilleri (Wright State), Ryan Trapp (Youngstown State) and P.J. Hendrie (Saint Louis).

2006-07: O'Connell posted a fall singles record of 5-4 to go along with a 14-8 spring mark to earn Atlantic 10 Second Team honors. It was the second time O'Connell had been named to an all-conference squad...Also paired with senior Tom Murphy to register a 17-10 record at first doubles.

2005-06: Fall sinlges record of 7-5 at #2 singles...Doubles record of 6-3...Recorded three singles victories at the Toledo Hidden Duals...Went 3-0 in singles and doubles at Wittenberg Invitational...Advanced to second round in singles and doubles draws at Louisville Invitational...Qualified for Midwest Regional Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan...Reached the finals of Flight A doubles backdraw at Wright State Invitational. Fall success carried over into a 15-5 singles record this spring. Also teamed up with Rex Cabrera to sport an 11-8 doubles record (mostly at second doubles). Capped off a studly sophomore year with first ever all-conference selection.

2004-05: Singles record of 19-6...Doubles record of 18-6...Undefeated in doubles at Wittenberg Invitational, where he also won 3 singles matches...Won nine consecutive singles matches to end the spring regular season...Went 1-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles on day one of Wright State Invitational.

High School: 2004 Graduate of St. Francis De Sales High School in Toledo, Ohio, O'Connell earned First Team Ohio Division I All-State honors in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004... Ohio State Division I Doubles Champion in 2003... Member of Ohio State Division I Championship Team 2002 and 2003... Earned Toledo City League First Team honors all four years of high school and was named City League Player of the Year in 2004. Competed in USTA Supernationals in Kalamazoo three times and was Midwest Closed 18 & Under Doubles Winner in 2004.
