STEBBINS EARNS SECOND-STRAIGHT MEN'S SOCCER ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS
Nov. 8, 2004 University of Dayton men's soccer midfielder Tye Stebbins (Zionsville, IN) was named to the 2004 Academic All-District IV Team for the second-straight year. Stebbins carries a 3.884 GPA in International Business and is leading the Flyers with 20 points and eight goals. The midfielder has started every game in the previous three seasons and now overall has started 73 out of a total of 79 games. Stebbins is tied for fourth in both points and goals in the Atlantic 10 Stebbins was named to the Academic All-Conference Team for the Atlantic 10 for the last two years as a sophomore and junior and was an Academic All-District IV team selection last year as well. The Academic All-District team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. By making the District IV team, Stebbins is now advancing to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher and be a starter or key reserve. District IV consists of NCAA Division I Universities in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. The Flyers are 10-6-1 this season, 7-3-0 in the Atlantic 10, heading into the regular season finale against Xavier on Saturday, November 5. Dayton has clinched playoff birth in the Atlantic 10 tournament Quarter finals that will kick off Thursday, November 11. |
