NANCHOFF NAMED MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK BY THE ATLANTIC 10

Oct. 11, 2004

University of Dayton midfielder George Nanchoff (North Royalton, OH) was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for men's soccer after a five-point weekend in two UD wins. Nanchoff had a four-point night Friday in UD's 5-1 drubbing of Saint Joseph's and then set up the game-winning goal Sunday as the Flyers beat Temple, 2-1, to move into a tie for first in the A-10.

On Friday, a cross by Nanchoff led to the Flyers' second goal of a 5-1 rout over Saint Joseph's as Omar Jarun (Peachtree City, GA) headed the pass home. Later, Nanchoff sprung Aaron Swanson (Ft. Wayne, IN) which led to a goal by Chris Rolfe (Kettering, OH). Minutes later, Nanchoff came in on a breakaway and beat the keeper for his second goal of the season.

On Sunday, Nanchoff danced around a defender to get open and then served a cross for Nate Darr (Centerville, OH) to head home with the game-winner in the Flyers' 2-1 win over Temple.

The Flyers have won six of seven to move to 6-4-1 overall, and are in first in the Atlantic 10 with a 3-1-0 league mark. Dayton will travel to New England for A-10 road matches at Massachusetts on Friday at 3:00 p.m., and at Rhode Island on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Live stats for both matches will be available at DaytonFlyers.com.
