MEN'S SOCCER SHUTOUT AT MICHIGAN STATE
Sep. 12, 2004 The Dayton men's soccer team tough opening to the 2004 season continued Sunday the Flyers fell at Michigan State, 4-0. The Flyers, who defeated two Big Ten teams last season, have now lost three-straight to the Big Ten. John Kaczmarek tallied twice for Michigan State as the Spartans scored twice in the first 20 minutes. J Minagawa-Webster got State on the board first in the sixth minute, before Kaczmarek's goal in the 20th put State up 2-0. The Spartans (4-0-0) took a 3-0 lead into the break on a goal by Jordan Gruber. Steve Ladislaw (Philadelphia, PA) had two saves on eight shots in the first half before giving way to Matt Troop (Peachtree City, GA). In the second half, Troop made three saves on six shots, allowing Kaczmarek's second goal in the 66th minute. Dayton was outshot 14-7, with seven Flyers each recording a shot. Jason Tillman (one save) and Chris Austin (two) each played a half in goal to combine for the shutout for Michigan State. The Flyers (0-3-1) will host the Dayton Marriott Flyer Classic next weekend as UD meets Wright State on Friday at 7:30, following Evansville and DePaul. On Sunday, Dayton meets Evansville at 2:30, after Wright State and DePaul. |
