DAYTON, OH - New University of Dayton men's soccer coach Dennis Currier has named Paul Souders an assistant coach on his staff. Souders will join assistant Alex Aldaz and volunteer assistant Matt Barnes on staff.

Souders served in the 2004 season as a graduate assistant under Currier at University of Incarnate Word, where the Cardinals finished ranked eighth in Division II, posting a 18-4-1 record.

A native of Dallas and a graduate of Coppell High School, Souders earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education at Clemson University. His study concentration there was in psychology and sociology. He played varsity soccer at Clemson four years. His team won the Atlantic Coast Conference title in 2001 and reached the NCAA Division I Elite Eight both in 2001 and 2002.

Souders also played in the United States Olympic Pool for Under-23. He has coaching experience with the New Mexico State U-16 team.

The Flyers finished 11-7-1 last season, finishing second in the Atlantic 10 regular season. Dayton sent a player to the MLS for the second-straight year, as A-10 All-Conference pick and Second Team All-America Chris Rolfe was drafted with the No. 29 overall pick by the Chicago Fire. The Flyers will return 22 letter-winners and seven starters for 2005.
