Three University of Dayton men's soccer players were selected in the 2006 MISL Wednesday. Midfielder Terry Alvino, forward Omar Jarun and midfielder Dasan Robinson were all picked in the first four rounds.

"The recent drafts of the MLS, USL and MISL further contributes to the reputation and success of our soccer program," head coach Dennis Currier said. "We are excited about these opportunities for our student-athletes and we are confident that they are well prepared for the new challenges ahead of them."

Alvino was the fifth overall pick by his hometown St. Louis Steamers.Alvino (St. Louis, MO) had been invited to a trial with the Chicago Fire of the MLS. Primarily a defensive midfielder, Alvino scored two goals and six assists in his lone season with the Flyers in 2005. Alvino helped the Flyers to six shutout victories and scored three game-winning goals. He spent his first three collegiate seasons at Division II University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX, where he was an All-America pick his junior year.

Jarun, of Peachtree City, GA was previously drafted by the USL First Division Atlanta Silverhawks, was picked with the sixth pick of the second round, by the Philadelphia KiXX. Jarun, an All-Atlantic 10 pick, led UD in scoring and was second in the A-10 in goals with 10 and third in both assists (seven) and points (27). After transferring to Dayton from the University of Memphis, Jarun racked up 19 goals in two seasons as a Flyer. In two seasons with Memphis, Jarun tallied eight goals. Jarun is expected to sign with the Silverhawks of the the USL First Division, formerly known as A-League.

Dasan Robinson was picked up in the fourth round of the MISL Draft by the Chicago Storm, with the fourth pick of that round. Robinson, who was taken in the supplemental round of the 2006 MLS SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire made the initial Fire roster on Tuesday, but has not yet signed a contract. The Fire have drafted a UD player in three straight years.

Robinson, a native of Elyria, OH, started all twenty of the Flyer's games this year and started sixty-three games in his career at Dayton, starting 92 percent of his games played as a Flyer. Robinson played as a midfielder this year but also played as a defender and as a forward in his early days in Dayton. Robinson was tied for third in assists (seven) in the league and first on the team.

Dayton returns 18 players from last year's squad, which finished 11-5-4, one game back of the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title. The Flyers advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship, where they were eliminated on penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw with No. 1 seed Saint Louis.
