ST. LOUIS - The Dayton Flyers run in the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Championship came to an end in a double-overtime shootout to host Saint Louis Friday night at Hermann Stadium. After scoring one goal each through regulation and two overtimes, Saint Louis advanced on penalty kicks, 5-4.

Saint Louis keeper Jeff Sackman got a piece of Terry Alvino's shot in penalty kicks, and the fifth and final PK was good by SLU's Ryan Wileman.

Omar Jarun scored his 10th goal of the season to tie the match in the 62nd minute. SLU scored on a goal by Calum Angus with four seconds to go before the half. UD keeper Nick Tarkany finished with nine saves. Sackman posted five. The Flyers are 11-5-4 on the season, while Saint Louis (9-5-4) will play for the Atlantic 10 Championship on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET against Rhode Island.

Senior goalkeeper Nick Tarkany (Miamisburg, OH) made nine saves in regulation and overtime and was tested right from the start. In the eighth minute, he made a save from point blank on SLU's Dan Guffey. Charging in transition, SLU's Ryan Wileman's shot was stoned by Tarkany in the 32nd minute. With four minutes to go before the half, Denaldin Hamzagic came in on a breakaway, but UD defender Devin McKenney ran him down to disrupt the shot, which went high of the crossbar.

Dayton's first chance came in the 12th minute when Jarun's header off a corner went high. A minute later, Jarun tapped a ball off the post.

Just before half, SLU scored off a corner kick when Calum Angus tapped a loose ball in the box underneath the keeper. With four seconds before the half.

Tarkany kept the Flyers in it in the second half, deflecting an Alex Matteson shot to his right in the 60th minute, and then Flyers had an apparent goal on a header by Nate Darr waved off by an offside call in the 55th minute.

Off a restart, Damion Blackburn (Beavercreek, OH) sent a service into the box where Jarun headed it over SLU keeper Jeff Sackman in the 62nd minute. It was the third assist of the tournament for Blackburn and the 10th goal of the season for Jarun, a First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection.

Jarun and Blackburn almost hooked up again with 73rd to go when Blackburn sent a cross, but the keeper was inches from Jarun when he 6-5 forward got his foot on the ball, and SLU cleared the rebound.

With seven minutes remaining, A-10 Offensive Player of the Year John DiRaimondo's shot from 10 yards away was saved by Tarkany, and the rebound was drilled off the post by Kyle Patterson before UD cleared it and the two teams battled through the end of regulation and two overtimes without a goal.

In the shootout, Dayton shot first with Jarun convertinig to the left side, beating Sackman, who guessed correctly, but couldn't make the stop. The first SLU shooter, Angus, also converted with a shot to the upper right corner, out of the reach of Tarkany.

UD's second shooter was junior Jonathan Welsh (Sugarland, TX), who's shot to the lower left fooled Sackman, who dove the other way. SLU answered with a goal from DiRaimondo to the lower right.

The third shooter for UD was senior Terry Alvino (St. Louis, MO), who attempted to go lower left on Sackman. Sackman got just enough of the ball to deflect it into the post. Danny Wynn of SLU put the Billikens up 3-2 with a goal to the lower right.

After Blackburn buried UD's fourth shot to the lower right, fooling Sackman, Kyle Patterson froze Tarkany with a shot to the lower left side.

Dasan Robinson (Elyria, OH) kept UD in it with the fifth kick, going lower left corner on a shot that Sackman could't get more than a piece of. But Wileman's shot to the right side put the Billikens into the finals.

Dayton's last trip to the A-10 semifinals was also a draw resulting in PKs: a 2-2 draw in 2000 versus George Washington, in which UD advanced on PKs 5-4.
