Position:
Assistant Coach

Zac Gibbens, a 2007 Atlantic-10 goalkeeper selection for the Flyers, was named an assistant coach for the men's soccer program following his graduation from the University of Dayton. He is responsible for developing and implementing the goalkeeper training curriculum for UD, in addition to assisting with recruiting efforts.

Gibbens is a natural selection for the position, his .89 GAA ranking him second all-time in UD history. His senior year he went 10-4-5 with six shutouts, earning him A-10 Honorable Mention accolades. Dayton's 2007 Defensive Player of the Year, Gibbens was one of four A-10 goalkeepers who played every minute in net for his team.

At one point in the season he did not allow a goal for 282:25 minutes from Oct. 26 to Nov. 11. He picked up his first win of the season, making two saves against Sacramento State and notched his first shutout of the year with four saves versus Eastern Illinois. He delivered two key saves in a 1-0 victory at Wright State and stopped a season-best nine shots in a 2-1 win at La Salle. Gibbens posted three consecutive shutouts with a win over Temple and ties against Xavier and St. Bonaventure.

As a sophomore at UD, Gibbens was named to the 2006-07 Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. He played in seven games, starting six. Gibbens was called upon to start minutes before the Tulsa game after starter Nick Tarkany went down with an injury and he went on to help the Flyers to a 3-0 victory. He held SMU, the top team in the nation at the time, to just one goal.

Gibbens came to Dayton after three years at Creighton University. After redshirting his first year, he went on to make three starts and appear in five matches, making his collegiate debut against SMU on Oct. 1, 2004. He made five saves in a 4-0 shutout of No. 23 Tulsa in his first career start (Oct. 3). He did not allow a goal in his first 219:40 minutes of collegiate play.

Gibbens was a standout keeper at Loveland High School in Loveland, Col. He earned first-team all-conference honors as a senior, while also being tabbed the team's Most Valuable Player. He was honored on the second-team all-conference squad as a sophomore and junior. Gibbens was tabbed to the first-team all-area team three times, in addition to being named first-team academic all-state as a junior and senior.

He played for Colorado Rush club team, and was MVP of the Colorado State Cup as a U-18 player. He also lettered in track (sophomore) and football (senior).
