Chase Brooks enters his third season on the Dayton Flyers bench helping head coach Dennis Currier on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Off the field his focus is on recruiting, scheduling, travel and player development, as well as serving as co-director of the UD Soccer Academy. He helped the Flyers to their first Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship in 10 years as UD won three games in four days to capture the title. Dayton went 15-4-3 overall in 2008, earned UD's first-ever berth to the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship and finished No. 1 in the NSCAA/adidas® Middle Atlantic Regional Rankings and No. 19 in the national rankings. In his first season at UD, Brooks helped Dayton finish the 2007 season 10-4-5 overall and advance to the opening round of the 2007 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Championship. The Flyers finished the season on a six-game unbeaten streak, had two players selected to the All-Atlantic 10 and NSCAA/adidas® Middle Atlantic Region teams and finished No. 8 in the regional rankings. Brooks' coaching was one of the primary reasons goalkeeper Zac Gibbens earned an Honorable Mention, All-Atlantic 10 selection in 2007. Under Brooks' guidance Gibbens went 10-4-5 with a 0.89 goals against average, showcased a .783 save percentage and recorded six shutouts. Before UD, Brooks served as an assistant coach at Northern Illinois University, helping the Huskies to a No. 19 National Ranking in 2006. As part of the NIU coaching staff for two years, Brooks helped guide the Huskies to a No. 19 national ranking in 2006, the Mid-American Conference tournament championship, the Mid-American regular season championship, and an automatic bid to the NCAA National Tournament. The team finished 15-6-1, which were the most wins in the program's history. Brooks assisted in training the defenders and goalkeepers that ranked No. 1 nationally in team shutouts and goals against average. Prior to NIU, Brooks worked for his alma mater, Eckerd College, since May 2003. After a four-year letter winning career, he remained at EC as an assistant coach while he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in management in May 2003. By December 2003, he was pressed into duty as the interim head coach until May 2004. A native of Ft. Myers, Florida, his playing career for the Tritons began in 1999. Brooks served as captain for Eckerd during his last two seasons with his senior year including First-Team All-Sunshine Conference accolades. After his senior year, he was chosen as the recipient of the James R. Harley Award, which is presented to the student-athlete who best represents Eckerd. During his college career, the three-time Sunshine State Conference Honor Roll athlete also received academic scholarships from Eckerd and the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship program. A former Florida Youth Soccer Association referee, Brooks also worked Eckerd summer soccer camps and coached the Southside Youth Soccer program in St. Petersburg. His resume also includes serving as an Operations Assistant for the USBL Florida SeaDragons Basketball Team based in Ft. Myers. Brooks, has a Master's degree in sports management from NIU, he has also earned an Advanced National License from the NSCAA in 2005 after earning an NSCAA National License Distinguished Pass in 2004. He also holds a USSF "B" License. Brooks and his wife Sarah live in Dayton. |
