The Dayton Flyers have seen five players move on from college to the MLS, soccer's highest professional level in North America. The Dayton soccer program is one of just 14 Division I programs which have had at least one player drafted into the MLS in each of the past three years.
Defender Denny Clanton was drafted and signed by the Chicago Fire in 2004.
The following year, forward Chris Rolfe was also taken by the Chicago Fire.
After he was originally selected in the MLS SuperDraft by the now defunct Tampa Bay Mutiny, and spending four seasons in the A-League, 2000 graduate Mark Schulte signed on in 2005 with the Columbus Crew.
Michael Nsien worked his way up to the Los Angeles Galaxy Reserves and was promoted to the MLS Roster in September, 2005. The Flyers added more alumni to the MLS, as Dasan Robinson was drafted in the Supplemental Round of the MLS Draft by the Chicago Fire.
In 2005, Clanton left the Fire and currently plays for the Chicago Storm of the Major Indoor Soccer League. Mark Schulte left the Columbus Crew and was named the 2008 USL-2 Championship MVP for the Cleveland City Stars.
