UD MEN SEVENTH AT IRONHORSE INTERCOLLEGIATE

TUSCOLA, Ill. - Senior Brett Gould (Dayton, OH) shot a first-round, even-par 72 and finished 11 strokes over par to lead the University of Dayton men's golf team to a seventh place finish at the Ironhorse Intercollegiate held Monday and Tuesday in Tuscola, IL.

Gould followed up his 72 with a 74 in the second round and third-round 81 to shoot 227 for the two-day tournament. His 227 was tied for ninth place overall, eight strokes off the tournament medallist, Josh Brown from Bradley University who posted a 3-over par 219.

Junior Adam Myers (Franklin, OH) who carded a 232, going 80-78-74 to finish in a tie for 23rd. Senior Tim Skufka (Chardon, OH) finished 23-over and tied for 34th place followed by senior A.J. Quinter (Minster, OH) who shot 242 (+26), sophomore Sam Morton (Centerville, OH) posted a 245 (+29) and senior Bill Everding (St. Louis, MO) finished with a 248 (+52).

The Flyers recovered from their first-round 315 to post scores of 313 and 310 in the final two rounds to finish in seventh place. The Ironhorse tournament team champion was De Paul University, which finished with a three-day score of 897 (+33).

Trailing Blue Demons was the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (914), Southeast Missouri State (925), University of Evansville (925) and Bradley University (928). The host Eastern Illinois University shot totaled a 929 on the par-72 course, which played at 7,046 yards.

UD will complete the fall portion of its 2004-05 schedule at the Precept Men's Intercollegiate in Clarkesville, TN. The tournament begins on Monday, October 25th and concludes on the 26th.
