GOULD PACES FLYER MEN AT EKU COLONEL CLASSIC

RICHMOND, Ky. - Senior Brett Gould (Dayton, OH) had a career weekend at the Eastern Kentucky University Colonel Classic in Richmond, KY, leading the University of Dayton men's golf team to its best finish of the year. Gould shot a career-best first round 70 and even better second round 69 to finish (-6) under par, and come in seventh place overall at the Classic.

Gould finished only four strokes behind the leader and shot under par all three rounds (70-69-71) ending with a total 210 as the Flyers to a seventh-place overall finish.

Senior Tim Skufka (Chardon, OH) shot 75-71-74, for a 210 and Bill Everding (St. Louis, MO) shot a 222. Junior Adam Myers (Franklin, OH) shot is career-best 72 in the third round with a total of 225 and senior A.J. Quinter (Minster, OH) rounded out the Flyer attack with a 235.

The Flyers had a team finish of (+12) over par, which was 35 strokes better than their previous tournament outing and finished in 7th place out of 12 teams at the tournament. Eastern Kentucky kept the trophy at home, winning the tournament with a score of 842 (-22). Tennessee Tech University came in second with an 846 18-under par outing. The individual medalist was Cody Hale of Lipscomb University, who shot an impressive 10-under 206 with the tournament low 67 in round 2.

The Flyers return to action on Monday, October 4th as they host the annual Dayton Fall Invitational at NCR Country Club in Dayton.
