MICHAEL OBERSCHMIDT EARNS THE A-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD
Oct. 12, 2009
PHILADELPHIA - After earning the lowest three-round score of his collegiate career, University of Dayton Michael Oberschmidt earned the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week award in men's golf. In his last outing, Oberschmidt finished in a tie for ninth among individuals at the 2009 Xavier Invitational. The sophomore from Cincinnati entered the day three under par for the tournament and remained at that score after firing an even par 72 in round three. Showing poise throughout the tournament, Oberschmidt's 213 total was the best in his brief Flyer career. During the 2009-10 season, Oberschmidt leads the Flyers in stroke average at 73.7 strokes per round. He is also tied for first in total rounds played with nine. This is the second time during the fall campaign the Flyers have had a player of the week award from the conference. On Sept. 21, junior Jeff Hodapp earned the award after winning the John Piper Intercollegiate. Oberschmidt and the Flyers' final event of the fall campaign will take place in one week as the Flyers host the University of Dayton Invitational. The two-day tournament will take place at the NCR Country Club from Oct. 19-20. |
