FOUR FLYERS QUALIFY FOR 2008 OHIO GOLF ASSOCIATION AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP



Senior Mitch Custenborder earned a bid to the 2008 Ohio Golf Association Amateur Championship in the Dayton qualifier

Four Dayton Flyer men's golfers qualified for the 2008 Ohio Golf Association Amateur Championship at tournaments in Dayton, Cincinnati and Cleveland.

Sophomore Chris Woeste will participate in the amateur championship after shooting a 74 at the Dayton qualifier. Woeste, the 2008 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, tied for sixth overall.

Joining Woeste was senior Mitch Custenborder who also competed and advanced to the championship tournament at the Dayton qualifier by finishing tied for ninth overall with a 75.

In the Cleveland qualifier, Zach Glassman tied for second overall cruising with a par 72. Last year in amateur play Glassman finished the Hudson Junior Invitational tied for eighth overall after shooting a 224, finishing four strokes back of the lead.

The lone incoming freshman on the team, Michael Oberschmidt shot a 73 at the Cincinnati qualifier to advance as well. Oberschmidt is a First Team Division II All-Ohio award winner and was the runner up at the 2007 Ohio High School State Division ll Tournament.

The Ohio Golf Association Amateur Championship will be held from June 14-18 at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.
