UD hosts three rounds of collegiate golf at Shaker Run on Sunday and Monday

The Flyer men's golf team is set to host the UD Spring Invitational at Shaker Run Golf Club. A total of 12 teams will compete in the 54-hole event in Sunday and Monday. Action begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET on Sunday. After 36 holes on Sunday, the Tournament concludes Monday with 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. ET.

Dayton will be playing its first tournament under the direction of Head Coach Drew Tyrer. Tyrer, a former Flyer, returns to UD from the University of Louisville where he served as an Assistant Coach for two years.

Last time out, the Flyers finished seventh at the Norm Bullock College Classic on April 9 & 10. Freshman Rob Chappell led UD with a second place finish individually.

Chappell, who shot a three round total of 219 (74-71-74), finished one behind the eventual winner of the tournament, Dustin Sloat of Eastern Illinois.

Also competing for the Flyers was senior Brett Gould, who finished tied for 21st, with a three round total of 231 (76-79-76). Junior John Zaller finished tied for 30th while freshmen Nick Trubee and Matthew Friend finished tied for 42nd and 65th, respectively.

  • Take Exit 32 off I-75 (OH-122)

  • Head East on OH-122

  • Turn Right onto Union Road (about two miles down on OH-122)

  • Turn Left onto CR-20/Greetree Road (about 1.5 miles down on Union Road)
