ETOWAH, NC - The Flyer men's golf team sits in a tie for 10th place following the first round of the Western Carolina Intercollegiate held Saturday at the Etowah Valley Golf Club. UD sits just eight shots shy of fifth place entering Sunday's final round.

Senior Sam Morton and freshman Kenny Wittenberg each carded a three-over-par 75 to lead the Flyers in their final competition of the fall season. The duo is tied for 20th place individually.

Another Dayton pair was three shots back as senior John Zaller and sophomore Mitch Custenborder finished with first round scores of 78. They each tied for 38th place.

Sophomore Rob Chappell closed out the Flyer competitors with a first-round 80 to place 52nd overall.
