CORAOPOLIS, Pa. - Four impressive rounds have the University of Dayton men's golf team at the top of leader board Monday after round one of the Crowne Plaza Colonial Classic hosted by Robert Morris University. Freshman Rob Chappell sits second overall at the event, firing an even-par 72. UD posted a team score of 297 and is eight strokes clear of the host Colonials heading into tomorrow's final round.

The Flyers lead the seven-team field at the par-72, 6,795-yard Montour Heights Country Club, paced by the 72 from Chappell and top 10 scores from senior Brett Gould (73), senior Adam Myers (76) and sophomore Jeff Hiesler (76).

Gould's one-over par puts him in a tie for third heading into tomorrow's final round, while Myers and Heisler sit tied for sixth. Sophomore Matt Doherty rounds out the Flyers in the field with an 86.

RMU's Jimmy Tomaseski fired the day's lone sub-par score, posting a 71 in soggy conditions at the course.

UD leads with a 297, followed by the 305 from Robert Morris and the 308 from the University of Toronto. Loyola College carded a 310 and is fourth while Duquesne University sits fifth with a 311. IUPUI (313) and Hampton University (328) complete the field.

The Flyers will be gunning for the first tournament win of the season and their best finish since taking second at last year's UD Fall Invitational. The final round begins with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
