CHARDON, Ohio - Chris Woeste knew he had to give a strong performance in the second round of the Cleveland State Invitational just to keep the Dayton Flyers in the Top 10.

What he did was give the team its best finish of the fall season.

Woeste's 72 in round three helped the Flyers earn a fifth place at the Cleveland State Invitational. The Kettering, Ohio native rebounded from earlier rounds of 84 and 78 to finish the tournament with a 234 total and tied for 37th.

But Woeste wasn't the only Flyer reducing scores on his scorecard. Junior Rob Chappell finished the Invitational in sixth after tallying a final round 71. It was Chappell's best round and finish of the 2007-08 campaign after he recorded scores of 73 and 75 on Monday.

The Flyers as a team shot a 296 in round three and finished the tournament with 906 total strokes.

As UD continues through the fall season, head coach Drew Tyrer has been pleased with his team's progress. Dayton has improved its finish with each tournament ending up in 14th, 11th, ninth and now fifth.

Freshman Zach Glassman, who earned the A-10 Rookie of the Week award on Monday, finished up with a 75 in round three to finish the Invitational in 11th. Glassman finished with rounds of 74-74-75 for an overall score of 223.

Junior Mark Juve finished tied for 37th with Woeste after recording rounds of 77-79-78 for a total of 234. Classmate Mitch Custenborder added scores of 80-79-80 to round out the scoring for UD.

For Juve and Custenborder, its their best finishes of the fall season as well.

The Flyers will travel to the John Dallio Memorial Golf Tournament for its next tournament on Oct. 1-2 from Lemont, Ill.
