LEMONT, Ill. - Two strong rounds by sophomore Zach Glassman helped put the Dayton Flyers in eighth place after day one of the John Dallio Memorial.

Glassman, who played in the 2008 U.S. Amateur Championship this summer, shot a first round 71 and a second round 72 to finish the day tied for seventh among individuals.

Just one stroke back was Glassman's counterpart at the U.S. Amateur, senior Rob Chappell, who fired a first round 73 and a second round 71 to finish tied for 11 overall.

As a team UD shot a 295 in the first round and a 296 in the second to complete play eighth out of 15 teams.

Senior Mitch Custenborder bounced back from a slow start to shoot a second round 74. Custenborder's 74 is his best round since shooting a career-best 71 at the Eastern Kentucky Intercollegiate during the spring 2007 campaign.

With rounds of 76 and 79, senior Mark Juve placed one stroke behind Custenborder in his season debut. Freshman Chris Woeste rounded out the scoring with a 75 and 81 in day one.

The final 18 holes of play will take place on Monday, Sept. 22 beginning at 8 a.m. ET held at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, Ill.
