UD DIPS TO NINTH AT SECOND ROUND OF A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - After playing some of its best golf all season, the Dayton Flyers took an unfortunate step back on the leader board at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship. UD shot a team total of 309 to drop to ninth overall after round two of the championship. Dayton's two day total of 603 is just eight strokes back of eighth place. Leading the way for the Flyers was freshman Kenny Wittenberg with a second round 75. Wittenberg is tied for 27th overall after two days. Another Flyer who shot a 75 was sophomore Rob Chappell, who is tied for for 15th overall with a two day total of 144. In third for Dayton is sophomore Mitch Custenborder, who fired a second round 81 after shooting a 73 on the first day. Custenborder is still in the top 50 as he is tied for 41st. Senior John Zaller stayed consistent shooting a second round 78 after yesterday's 78. Zaller is tied for 46th with a two-day total of 156. Rounding out the Flyers was senior Sam Morton who took an 81 into the clubhouse after round two. He has a two-day total of 159. Final round of play of the 54-hole event commences on Sunday with tee times starting at 8 a.m. at both the first and 10th tees. |
