SENIORS LEAD FLYERS AFTER FIRST ROUND OF WOLF RUN INTERCOLLEGIATE
April 15, 2007
ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - Battling the weather, which cut the 54-hole tournament down to 36, the Dayton Flyers finally teed off at noon today at the prestigious Wolf Run Golf Course. Fighting off strong winds, the Flyers shot a team total of 345 to finish the day in 12th place. Senior Sam Morton shot a team best 42 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine to end round one with an 85. He also fired up three birdies during his 18 hole play. Teammate John Zaller, who shares 53rd place with Morton, ended the day with an impressive 40 on the back nine. He also shot a first round total of 85. Sophomore Rob Chappell tallied a round of 86, which was good enough to land him in a tie for 56th place. Fellow sophomore Mark Juve shot an 89 for the round. He currently sits alone in 74th place. UD will be back in action tomorrow at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate with players teeing off in the early morning. |
