The UD men's golf team shot a solid 308 in the first round of the Norm Bullock Collegiate Classic to secure a seventh place finish in the first day of the tournament. Dayton's team was lead in the first round by one of the season's standout players, freshman Rob Chappell. Chappell is currently tied for sixth place overall with a score of 74.

Senior Brett Gould also had a strong performance trailing closely behind Chappell with a 76. Other Flyers competing at the 72-par, 7,007-yard course include junior John Zaller and freshman Nick Trubee, who each shot a 79 in the first round, as well as freshman Matt Friend with 83.

The tournament, which is hosted by Wright State University, is set to finish up Monday with two more rounds at the Greene Country Club in Fairborn.
