RICHMOND, Ky. - For the first time during the 2007 spring season, the Dayton Flyers found a way to break the 300 in all three rounds.

UD finished in sixth at the Eastern Kentucky University Invitational after shooting a 298 in round three on Saturday.

In their previous two rounds on Friday, Dayton shot a 296 and 290 to position themselves in the Top 10. Saturday's performance gave the Flyers its best finish of the 2006-07 season.

Sophomore Rob Chappell played his best golf of the spring shooting a 71 in round three to finish 13th overall with a total score of 217. He extended his streak of scores below an 80 to six rounds.

Senior John Zaller responded with a round three score of 74 to finish with a 226 and a tie for 50th place. Just in front of him was senior Sam Morton who shot a 77 to finish the invitational with a 225 and a tie for 45th.

Sophomore Mitch Custenborder continued his strong play tallying a 76 in round three to finish with an overall score of 228. Custenborder finished tied for 57th.

Rounding out the group for UD was sophomore Nick Trubee, who finished with an overall score of 233 after shooting an 83 in round three.

Dayton returns to action on April 15-16 at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind.
