UD PLACES 15TH AT W&M INVITATIONAL AFTER CANCELLATION OF SECOND ROUND

Team Scores | Individual Results WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Senior Brett Gould shot a one-over-par 72 to lead the Dayton men's golf team at the W&M Invitational hosted at the Kingsmill Resort and Golf Club. UD tied for 15th out of 22 teams after a first round team score of 305. Tuesday's second round was cancelled due to inclement weather. Playing in cold and windy conditions with overcast skies, Gould finished just three shots back of the leaders Will Shriver (Loyola (MD), Josh Anderson (St. Bonaventure) and Brent Paladino (W&M). Overall just 14 competitors carded a score of 72 or better on the par-71, 6,831-yard River Course, which was previously a stop of the PGA tour and currently hosts the Michelob Ultra Open on the LPGA tour. Freshman Rob Chappell was three shots behind Gould with a four-over-par 75 to tie for 30th place. The duo of freshman Matthew Friend and junior Sam Morton tied for 79th place with a 79. Junior John Zaller rounded out the Flyer competitors with an 80 to tie for 89th place. Dayton returns to action in the UC/UD Men's Collegiate Invitational on April 3 & 4 at Hueston Woods in Oxford, Ohio. |
