In 2007 he earned a First Team Division II All-Ohio award and was the runner up at the Ohio High School State Division ll Tournament. Oberschmidt took first place at the AAU National Junior Golf Championship and qualified for the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship. He was also the Greater Catholic League Player of the Year and first team selection in 2007 with the lowest average score in the Cincinnati area.
