University of Dayton senior wide receiver and return specialist Nick Ruhe (Ottawa, OH) has been named the Third Team NCAA Division I-AA All-America All-Purpose Player by the Associated Press, it was announced Wednesday.

Ruhe led the Pioneer Football League and was fourth nationally in both all-purpose yardage (167.3 yards per game) and receiving yardage (97.7). He also led the PFL in punt return average (11.3) and led the Flyers by returning 24 kickoffs for a 20.1 yard average.

The graduate of Ottawa-Glandorf High School also set the Dayton record for receiving yards in a season in 2006. After coming into the year with just four receptions for 53 yards, Ruhe caught a team-high 49 passes for 977 yards. The 977 yards broke the record set by Ryan Wrobleski (919 yards) in 2005.

Ruhe was named First Team All-Pioneer Football League as a wide receiver. After redshirting the 2004 season with an injury, he is expected to return in 2007 to complete his eligibility.
