BREDLO, WROBLESKI HONORED AS UD'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

DAYTON - Junior women's soccer player Alicija Bredlo (Burlington, Ontario) and junior football player Ryan Wrobleski (Northville, MI) have been named the University of Dayton Female and Male Athletes of the Week. Bredlo helped the No. 22 women's soccer team extend the nation's longest winning streak to 16 matches while Wrobleski brought the top-ranked football team one step closer to the PFL Championship.

Bredlo, who was also tabbed the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the first time in her career, notched her fourth game-winning goal of the season Friday as UD (16-1-0, 8-0-0) rallied to beat Richmond, 2-1. The win over the second-place Spiders clinched the Flyers their eighth Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship and seventh consecutive. Sunday, the defender anchored a backline that posted its conference-best 11th shutout of the season in the 3-0 win over George Washington. For the season, Bredlo is fourth on the team in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points - all are career-bests.

Wrobleski, UD's leading wide receiver, was a human-highlight reel in Saturday's 49-10 win over Butler. The junior made six spectacular catches and totaled 118 yards with one touchdown. All of Wrobleski's catches resulted in either first down or touchdowns as the Flyers (7-1, 2-0) won their fifth-straight game. For the season, he has reeled in 37 catches for 669 yards and five TD's - all are career-highs.

The Flyer women's soccer team will close out the A-10 regular season at Fordham (Fri., 2 p.m.) and La Salle (Sun., 1 p.m.). Football hosts Drake in the important of the game season Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Welcome Stadium. The Flyers and Bulldogs are both undefeated in PFL play.
