AT DAYTON: Winner has started the last 31 games at left tackle for the University of Dayton. The 2005 co-captain was a mainstay on a line that has bulldozed the way for 102 rushing touchdowns the last three seasons, compared to 25 for Flyer foes. He helped the team to rank first in the PFL and fifth nationally for rushing offense. In 2005, Winner was named Offensive Lineman of the Year and I-AA Mid-Major All-America by Football Gazette. He was also named I-AA Mid-Major All-America by Sports Network. In 2004, Winner was First Team All-Pioneer Football League and selected an Honorable Mention All-American by the Football Gazette. He was thrust into the starting lineup in 2003 ahead of schedule when then-senior Andy Hiser's career was abruptly ended due to injury. Winner came through by starting all 11 games at left tackle and was named UD's Most Improved Player in 2004. He played in four games as a freshman. He was also selected to the PFL All-Academic Second Team in 2005. PERSONAL: Son of Mike and Nancee Winner...Born on July 23, 1983...Majoring in Communication Management...He was Offensive Lineman of the Year and two-time All-Greater Western Ohio Conference for Greenville High School. |
