AT DAYTON: The Flyers returned their top rusher for the first time since Jermaine Bailey came back for his senior season in 2002 with the return of Verhoff for his redshirt senior season. Verhoff, a 2005 captain and ten-game starter, was third in rushing (78 carries for 338 yards) and fifth in receiving (11 receptions for 71 yards). UD's leading rusher and second leading receiver in 2004, he gained 612 yards (3.8 avg.) in ten starts, with four rushing TDs and caught 18 passes out of the backfield for 115 yards (6.4 avg.). He had UD's only 100-yard game in 2004, gaining 111 yards on 24 carries in the win over Valpo. In 2003, Verhoff had 32 carries for 144 yards (4.5 avg.) and two TDs. As a redshirt freshman, he played in three games and had 11 carries for 43 yards. Verhoff was named First Team Academic All-PFL in 2004 and 2005. In 2004, he was also named Second Team CoSIDA Academic All America and First Team CoSIDA Academic All District. He is a three-time member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll.

PERSONAL: Son of Dale and Shirley Verhoff...Born on December 24, 1982...Graduated with a degree in Adolescent-Young Adult Education...Currently pursuing master's degree in Educational Leadership...In high school, was team captain of the football, basketball and track teams...He was selected team, league and county MVP. Verhoff was also selected Offensive Player of the Year for Northeast Ohio and was named First Team All-Ohio. His teams were 37-7 in his four-year prep career.
