AT DAYTON:
2008:
Valentino played an important role in the Flyers successful 2008 season as he started all 12 games for Dayton. He was fifth on the team in rushing with 34 attempts with a net gain of 103 yards. He was third on the team in passing, completing 5/15 passes with a 51% efficiency. He had 50 receptions for 626 yards, second best on the team in catches and first in yards. He recorded 4 touchdowns for the Flyers. He was also the teams leader in punt returns. Kicking and punting combined, he received the ball 43 times and gained 437 yards. He was first on the team in all-purpose with a total of 1466 yards. His performance in 2008 earned him a First Team All Pioneer League Selection at Wide Reciever and Honorable Mention as a return specialist. Valentino is also member of the 2008 PFL Academic Honor Roll.
2007:
It's been a long time, maybe even as long as 50 years, since a Flyer backup quarterback started at another position, but that's the case with Steve Valentino. While the fastest Flyer (he runs a 4.47 40) is expected to see time at quarterback, he is also listed as a starting wideout heading into the 2008 campaign. He earned his first letter during the 2007 season, seeing action in 11 games for the Flyers, running 11 times for 56 yards and a TD, completing three of five passes for three yards and returning two punts for 26 yards.
2006:
He did not see game action in 2006. He was a member of the 2006 PFL Academic Honor Roll.
