Player Profile

Position:
Assistant Coach

Alma Mater:
Bluffton '03

Brian Steiner joined the Flyer football staff in 2006 after stints at Illinois Wesleyan and Toledo. His duties at UD are the same as what he had at those two schools - coaching the defensive line.

While coaching at Illinois Wesleyan, Steiner earned his Masters in Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity. He did his undergraduate work at Bluffton University, where he was a three-year starter at defensive end and linebacker. While at Bluffton, highlights of his playing career included being a member of the Heartland Conference co champions in 2000, being two-time Academic All-District, earning all-conference honors as a senior, and serving as a team captain. He graduated from Bluffton in 2003 with a B.A. in Sports Management with a minor in Coaching.

The Joseph Minham, Sr. Coaching Assistantship Position was established to represent a lasting legacy for Mr. Joseph Minham Sr. The assistantship supports a football coach starting out in the profession at the University of Dayton. It is fitting that the Assistantship is designated for an individual who is assisting the football program in a coaching position to better themselves in a career of academics and football. This position mirrors exactly what Mr. Minham did for so many years, supporting the people and organizations he truly cared about, his family and his Flyer Family.

Joe's daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Stan Maher, made the establishment of this annual assistantship position possible.
