AT DAYTON: In 2007, Ruhe had an outstanding season and was named to the PFL All-League Second Team in reward for his efforts. He was second on the team in total receiving yards with 855. He recorded 19 punt returns for 133 yards. He averaged 18.7 yards on a kick return. He also contributed 4 touchdowns to the Flyers offensive game. Ruhe took over the starting wideout spot and the #1 uniform jersey last year from Ryan Wrobleski, and by season's end, he also overtook Wrobleski's UD record for receiving yards in a season. After just catching four passes as Wrobleski's backup in 2005, Ruhe caught 49 balls (the fourth-highest in a season at Dayton) for 977 yards (besting Wrobleski's year-old record by 58 yards). Ruhe was fourth in NCAA I-AA and led the PFL with 97.7 receiving yards a game. He also led the Flyers in kickoff returns (20.1), and led the league in punt returns (11.26) and all-purpose yardage (167.3 yards a game, which was also 4th nationally). Ruhe also led the PFL in yards per catch (19.9). He had highs of nine catches (for 136 yards) at Davidson, and 159 yards (in six catches) at Jacksonville. He earned his first letter in 2005 by playing in all ten games, and turned in an all conference season on special teams. He was the top punt returner in the Pioneer Football League, returning 37 punts for a 12.1 per return average. He also caught four passes for 53 yards and two TD's backing up Wrobleski. Ruhe redshirted the 2004 season after suffering a fractured leg. He played in four games as a freshman in 2003. He is a two-time First Team All-PFL performer (as a kick returner in 2005, and a wide receiver in 2006). PERSONAL: Son of Gary and Paula Ruhe...Born on July 12, 1984...Majoring in Economics... He was team captain in two sports and all-league in three for Ottawa-Glandorf. He was First Team Division IV All-Ohio and league Defensive Player of the Year. He was first team all-league in football (both on offense and defense); he also captained the basketball and baseball teams. |
