At Dayton:
Ries had a breakout season in 2008, starting all 12 games for the Flyers. His 74 tackles was second best on the team, 35 of those were solo, 7.5 for loss, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and, 2 fumble recoveries. His performance earned him a 2008 First Team All Pioneer Football League Selection. Ries is also a member of the 2008 PFL Academic Honor Roll and the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team. Ries saw game action in eight 8 games for the Flyers in 2007. He recorded eight tackles and a sack. He is projcted to start alongside Drew Fumagalli this season. Ries did not see game action in 2006. He was on the PFL Academic Honor Roll.

Personal:
Son of Bob and Barb Ries...Born on May 2, 1988...Majoring in Sport Management...Ries was captain of St. Xavier's state championship team in 2005. He was First Team All-GCL and earned the U.S. Army Team Player Award. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society.
