Jones is a 2004 team captain after giving an All-American performance as a first-time starter in 2003. Jones led the Flyers in tackles (105), solo hits (60) and tackles in the backfield (11), and was named a First Team Sports Network NCAA Division I-AA Mid-Major All-American. Jones' 60 solo tackles were more than all but five players on the team had total tackles, and his 105 total hits were 30 more than anyone else on the team. He also broke up two passes, caused two fumbles and recovered two fumbles. A three-year letterwinner, he was fourth on the team in tackles (51.5) as a sophomore even though he did not start a game. His 34 solo tackles in 2002 were third on the team. Jones also broke up five passes, recovered a fumble, intercepted a pass and had a sack two years ago. As a freshman, he earned the 2001 Cannonball Award, which goes annually to the team's top newcomer. Jones was in on 15 tackles as a rookie (8 unassisted). Jones was named a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2003. He was also First Team Academic All-District. He is a two-time Academic All-PFL selection, and a three-time member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll. PERSONAL Son of David and Tina Jones...Born on August 27, 1983...Double Majoring in Accounting and Finance... Jones was captain, league Player of the Year, Central Ohio Player of the Year and Second Team All-Ohio both his junior and senior seasons. Jones was a member of National Honor Society and ranked first in his class. |
