AT DAYTON: Hoyng entered his final season wearing the Red & Blue already the owner of the UD records for career total offense (5,425), passing yardage (4,545) completions (279) and pass attempts (629). As a captain, he led the team with 10 touchdowns and 3,317 passing yards that led to 31 touchdowns. He rushed for a net 640 yard, which led to 9 of his 10 touchdowns. He was named PFL Offensive Player of the Week several times and earned PFL Offensive Player of the Year for 2007. Despite missing a game with a knee injury in 2006, he had the second best single-season marks in total offense (2,471, behind only his own record set in 2005) and passing yards (2,052), and third-best number of pass completions (131). For the year, he was 131 of 221 (.593) for 2,052 yards and 11 touchdowns, and was 14th in NCAA-I-AA in passing efficiency (146.46). He was named the 2005 White-Allen Most Valuable Player award winner after setting the UD school record in 2005 for total offense in a season with 2,547 yards. Besides completing 59.1% (114 of 193) of his passes for 1,989 yards and 14 TD's, Hoyng also led the Flyers in rushing (558 yards, 114 attempts, 4.9 avg., 7 TD's). Hoyng was seventh in I-AA in passing efficiency (164.39). He was named Second Team All-PFL in 2005 as well as First Team Academic All-PFL. In 2004, Hoyng was UD's second-leading rusher (322 yards, 68 attempts, 4.7 avg., 3 TD's) and completed 53.1% of his passes (34 of 64) for 504 yards, three touchdowns and just two interceptions. Hoyng is only the third two-time captain in Flyer football history. He is a three-time member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll, and was First Team Academic All-PFL in 2006.

PERSONAL: Son of Tim and Kathy Hoyng...Born on March 27, 1984...Majoring in Education...Hoyng was captain of both the football and basketball teams at Coldwater. As a footballer, he was league MVP two years, first team offense two years and second team defense two years. He was Northwest Ohio Offensive Player of the Year and Dayton Area Division III/IV Offensive Player of the Year. He was a three-year letterman in basketball. He was Academic All-Ohio and the Lima News Student-Athlete of the Year as a senior.
