AT DAYTON: Champa had the best season by a Dayton tight end since Fred Dugan's All-America season in 1957. Champa was the leading receiver with 921 yards. He was second on the team in touchdowns with 9. He was named to the Associated Press FCS All-American Team, College Sporting News All-American Team, Walter Camp FCS All-American Team and was a unanimous selection to the PFL First Team. Champa was UD's thirdleading receiver in 2006, catching 29 passes for 400 yards (13.8 yards a catch). Dugan had 37 receptions for 546 yards. Champa lettered for the first time in 2005 playing in all ten games of the season. He had six TD's (leading the team) and was second on the team in receptions (16 catches, averaging 16.7 yards/game receiving). He was named Second Team All-PFL in and was named Second Team I-AA Mid-Major All-America by Football Gazette. He played in four games in 2004. He was on the PFL Academic Honor Roll in 2006.
