VALENTINO EARNS PFL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

University of Dayton senior quarterback Steve Valentino earned his third Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week of the season for his performance in Dayton's 21-14 win over San Diego at Welcome Stadium on Saturday. FLYER FOOTBALL BACK HOME SATURDAY AT 1 PM TO FACE SAN DIEGO

The University of Dayton football team is back home this Saturday as the Flyers host San Diego at Welcome Stadium. Game time is 1 p.m. ET. This will be just the second home game in five Pioneer Football League contests for the Flyers, who are tied for first in the PFL with a 4-0 record. UD has won six straight games and is 6-1 overall. VALENTINO, WINGEIER EARN PFL PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARDS

A pair of University of Dayton football players were honored by the Pioneer Football League for their performances in Saturday's 38-7 Flyer win at Valparaiso. Senior quarterback Steve Valentino earned his second PFL Offensive Player of the Week of the season, and senior defensive end Brandon Wingeier was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week. DAYTON DEFENSE DOMINATES IN 38-7 WIN OVER VALPARAISO

VALPARAISO, Ind. -- A smothering effort by the University of Dayton defensive unit paved the way to the Flyers' sixth straight win as the Flyers easily defeated Valparaiso 38-7 Saturday on the road. The Dayton D allowed just two first downs, 60 yards in total offense and just 51 plays the entire game. UD improved to 6-1 overall, and remained tied for first place in the Pioneer Football League with a 4-0 record. MORE
