With all the unpredictability in the NCAA Tournament, only one thing is certain each year: Cinderella is always the star of the show. Last season, George Mason shocked the college basketball world by cheating midnight to dance all the way to the Final Four.

In honor of the Cinderella stories from years past, the Dayton Flyers' Roosevelt Chapman earned the No. 7 spot on the Hall of Fame Magazine's Top 10 Cinderella Men.

Earning the nickname "Velvet" on the streets of Brooklyn, Chapman wasn't fazed by the bright lights of the NCAA Tournament.

As a No. 10 seed in 1984, the Flyers knocked off the LSU Tigers and Oklahoma Sooners in the first two rounds. Chapman put up an astounding 41 points against Wayman Tisdale's Sooners, sending the UD campus into a frenzy.

Excitement in Dayton continued to build as the Flyers took off for the Sweet Sixteen in Los Angeles. And the dream didn't end there, as Chapman put up another 22 points to defeat Detlef Schrempf and the Washington Huskies.

Only the eventual national champion, the Georgetown Hoyas, could ground the Flyers, ending their run in the West Regional final. Chapman led the NCAA Tournament with 105 points in four games.

Chapman finished his career as the Flyers' all-time leading scorer with 2,233 points and also ranks in the Top 10 on nearly every all-time career stat list for UD.

In addition, Chapman is also a member of Dayton's All-Century Team and a member of the UD Hall of Fame.
