Head Coach Brian Gregory "Our guys played hard against a good Mercer team. They did everything we asked them to do tonight." "We always play hard, but our focus on rebounding and blocking out tonight was as good as I have seen while coaching here." "We have to be ready for Auburn. They are a high octane team that really pushes the ball. They have a good coach who came in with Tennessee Tech and beat us here at UD Arena." "We had a quick one day turnaround and when you see a team like Mercer, they are a well coached team who doesn't give up and they know how to play. We beat a very good team and did it with great defensive pressure and strong play on the glass. Everybody who played tonight really impacted the game." "We only practiced about an hour and walked through some things on what we needed to do defensively. Our guys knew this was a good team that we were playing and they responded tonight." "I think we became a little tentative because of the foul situation. We have to be able to play our defense without fouling." "This is a good game for us tonight. We know what we are getting into with the next two games. However, this is a good team that we beat tonight. It was a great test for us tonight and was just what we needed at this point."
London Warren "I timed the block. I was just trying to be like Chris (Wright). He's got all of the hops and I always try to hustle down and get the blocks like Chris when I can." "It's important to go 4-0, but we are taking each game one at a time. This was a big win for us. Mercer is a tough team. They are a good team. They are well coached." "I think in the second half we had a couple of miscues but when it came time we settled down and did what we had to do to win the game." "It's real easy to be the point guard period because all of my teammates get in position and are able to make plays. I give it to them and they make the plays." Chris Wright "It wasn't too difficult if you are ready mentally because physically the body will take care of itself. You just have to take care of your body and get in the training room to get treatment. It was a little tough because on Sunday we had to battle it out with Bethune-Cookman and we didn't take them lightly. We played hard like we were supposed to and came out with the win on Sunday. To turn around and practice on Monday was a little tough, but when you are dialed in it doesn't matter." "I think this is going to be exciting to play. You have to approach it like any other game. That's why you play the game. I know it's the SEC and the Big East, but in the A-10, we've got teams too. Everybody can play and that's why you play the game." "They chewed me out every day about rebounding. Today was more of a team effort. I went to glass, but we did a better job of cutting out. In previous games we didn't do a good job of cutting out and we had a tendency to turn around the rim and run. We did a good job tonight of attacking the glass." Charles Little "It started last game trying to attack more. But it goes more with my teammates. When Chris (Wright) is jumping and Marcus (Johnson) is slashing, it opens things up for me and I have to take advantage of that." "They play off me and play me the way they've been playing me, I've been shooting that shot since I was 12. I'm really comfortable shooting it. If they give it to me I'll shoot it." |
