Known as the "Jacksonville Jet," London Warren is an explosive point guard who has outstanding quickness on the offensive and defensive ends. Warren's energy, enthusiasm and creativity made him a favorite among the Flyer Faithful.
Since his first appearance in a Flyer uniform as a freshman, Warren has steadily improved his overall game from the point guard position. After two years coming off the bench, Warren excelled in a starting role and continued to bring an infusion of energy on the court. In his first two years at UD he had more turnovers than assists, but in his first season as a starter he was among the nation's leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio and quarterbacked the Flyers to 27 wins and an NCAA tournament berth. Want to talk improvement over a career? He's earned UD's Chris Daniels Memorial Most Improved Player Award twice.
Described in the off-season as the best leader and the most unsung player in the A-10, head coach Brian Gregory cuts to the chase when he says "No one anywhere plays with a bigger heart than London Warren."
2008-09
In his first year as a starter, London Warren led the Flyers in assists (4.5), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.33) and steals (1.6), and was in the Top 20 in the Atlantic 10 in all three categories. His A/T ratio was the 33rd-best in the nation in 2008-09. Down the stretch, with point guard partner Rob Lowery sideline with a knee injury, Warren took it up to a 3.76 ratio in the last 11 games of the year. Even more impressive is the fact that 10 of those 11 games were against teams that played in the 2009 post-season. Among his best efforts were nine assists against just one turnover in the NCAA win over West Virginia, and a career-high 12 assists in the A-10 Semifinals against Duquesne. Named to the 2009 Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team, the "Jacksonville Jet" is the first two-time winner of UD's Best Defender Award, and will likely become the first Flyer to lead the team in steals four consecutive seasons. Warren led the Flyers with team-highs of nine rebounds and eight assists to go with four points and two steals against Temple. He recorded 11 points, eight assists and three steals without a turnover at Toledo. Warren tallied eight points, five rebounds and five assists against Richmond in the A-10 Quarterfinals. Warren finished the season playing in all 35 games (starting 33) and averaging 4.1 points a game.
2007-08
Warren earned the Flyers' Defensive Player of the Year award after leading the team with 45 steals. In the Atlantic 10, Warren ranked 17th with 1.3 steals per game. Warren tallied career-bests of 13 points and 10 rebounds to go with five assists at Rhode Island. At Richmond he added 11 points and matched that point total the following game against Saint Louis. Warren scored all six of his points in double overtime in UD's win over Akron. At Louisville, Warren snagged a career-high four steals in UD's win and matched that number with four steals to go with six points and eight rebounds versus Loyola. His lay-up and two free throws with less than a minute remaining gave UD the lead that would not be relinquished over Charlotte. At La Salle, Warren delivered 10 points and seven assists. He had seven points in 10 minutes of action at St. Bonaventure. Warren filled up the stat sheet with five points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot over Saint Joseph's. At Illinois State in the NIT Second Round, Warren had four points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. He finished the year averaging 4.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in 34 contests.
2006-07
After averaging just 7.7 minutes, 0.7 points, 1.2 assists and 1.7 turnovers in the first six league games, Warren averaged 18.1 minutes, 4.2 points, 3.4 assists and just 1.8 turnovers in the last 14 games, and earned starts in the last seven games. He shot .250 (8-of-32) from the floor in the first 19 games, but shot .487 (19-of-39) in the final 14 games. Warren was named the winner of the 2006-07 Chris Daniels Memorial Award, which goes to the most improved player on the UD basketball team. He scored a season-high 10 points at Saint Bonaventure with two assists and no turnovers. He raised his career best to eight assists (with six points and just one turnover) against Charlotte during the Atlantic 10 tournament win. Overall, he led UD in steals (0.9) and was second in assists (2.5) in just 14.5 minutes a game.
High School
Warren came to the University of Dayton after an outstanding career at Jacksonville's Raines High School, a powerhouse on the Florida prep scene. Warren was First Team 4A All-Florida as a senior, after averaging 21.0 points, 7.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 3.2 steals a game. Raines finished 16-10 and ranked 20th in Florida 4A that season.
As a junior, Warren averaged 14.2 points and 5.2 assists in 14 games. He missed 14 games after breaking his right hand in the third game of the year. Even though he missed half the year, Warren led Raines to the regional finals in 2005 after Raines won back-to-back Florida Class 4A state championships in 2003 and 2004. In the summer of 2005, his Jacksonville Lee Bulls AAU team reached the final 16 at the AAU national tournament, and Warren averaged 19.0 points, 8.2 assists and 8.0 rebounds for the Bulls.
