Devin Searcy Photo Gallery
Devin Searcy is back to patrol the paint and provide the Flyers with versatility and athleticism in the post.
Searcy owns a fundamentally sound game by being able to set screens, fight for position on the interior, and hustle after loose balls. His "lunch pail" mentality garners respect from both coaches and teammates alike. Not only is Searcy an athletic 6-9, he has a 37-inch vertical leap and a seven-foot fingertip-to-fingertip reach.
2008-09
Devin played in 32 games throughout the season contributing 88 points. He improved upon numbers in every category from his first year, standing third on the team in field goal percentage (.493). Searcy recorded eight points, three rebounds and a block versus Bethune-Cookman. He scored six points and had four rebounds versus Auburn. Against No. 15 Marquette, he played well defensively with four rebounds and two blocked shots. Devin led the Flyers with five rebounds and two blocks at Akron. He had six points on 4-of-4 shooting at the free throw line at Toledo. Searcy hauled in five rebounds against Miami, and tallied three points, three rebounds and a steal against Saint Joseph's. He added six points and two rebounds versus No. 14 Xavier, and recorded a career-best six rebounds at Saint Louis. Devin tallied a career-best 10 points in 13 minutes on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor at Rhode Island. Due to a sprained knee, he missed the Xavier road game, the Duquesne home contest, and the A-10 quarterfinal win over Richmond.
2007-08
Searcy averaged 1.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in 25 games. He got going on both ends of the floor in UD's win over SMU by hauling in five rebounds (three on the offensive glass) and picked up his first two points as a Flyer. He followed that up with a career-high six points against High Point in 11 minutes of action. In eight minutes of action against then No. 6 Pittsburgh, Searcy tallied three rebounds. At Xavier, Searcy hauled in four defensive rebounds. Against La Salle, Searcy chipped in with three points and three rebounds. In the second Xavier contest, Searcy tallied four points and three rebounds.
High School
Searcy was the fifth Romulus High School player in four years to earn a Division I scholarship. A three-year starter, Searcy was a sophomore for Romulus' 2005 Michigan Class A runners-up, and averaged 8.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots. As a junior, and the only returning starter for Romulus, he averaged 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots and was named honorable mention all-state.
As a senior, he was named to the All-Down River Team after averaging 12.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.7 blocked shots and 1.5 assists a game. Romulus finished 15-9. He was ranked #8 overall in Michigan's 2007 class by Rivals.com, and the #3-rated power forward in Michigan. As a senior, he was also selected as one of the Top 50 players at the Nike All-American Camp. He blocked 11 shots in a game against Ypsilanti (including six in the fourth quarter) midway through the 2006-07 season.
Searcy hopes to go into sports broadcasting. His God-Brother is former Memphis All-American and current New Jersey Net Chris Douglas-Roberts.
