Douglas Lamont "Monty" Scott entered the 2005-06 season seemingly ready to build on what might be looked back upon as his breakout sophomore year. Heading into last year, Scott was named to the A-10's preseason first team after being named UD's MVP and Third Team All-Atlantic 10 as a soph after leading UD in scoring and rebounding. But after sparking UD to an 8-3 start, Scott was limited, and eventually sidelined, with a stress fracture in his left foot. Scott missed five critical games in the A-10 season, before returning for 16 minutes at La Salle. He returned to the starting lineup for the Xavier win, and returned to form at Saint Louis on March 1, with 23 points (including 14 points after intermissions and the game-winning free throws with 5.9 seconds left in OT). He followed that up with 14 points against Rhode Island in the regular season finale on March 4. Those 14 point totals are worth mentioning because that is exactly how many points he scored in the entire month of February. Even with the injury, he was second on the team in scoring (11.2) and rebounding (4.3) in 2005-06. As a sophomore, he was just the ninth player in Flyer basketball history to be named the team's White Allen Most Valuable Player and earn the "Shorty" Sharpenter Memorial Rebounding Trophy. Scott started all 29 games in 2004-05, and averaged 11.1 points and 4.6 rebounds. Almost doubling his scoring output from the previous year (6.3 to 11.1), he started raising his game after January 1. He scored a career-high 25 points in a career-high 40 minutes against Duquesne on January 5, and recorded his first career double-double (10 points and career-high 12 rebounds) four days later in the Cornell win. He later matched his career high of 25 points in the La Salle win on January 22. After Scott sat out the 2002-03 season to focus on academics, he opened his college career with three straight double-digit games, scoring 11 points at Pepperdine, 11 in the Maui opener vs. Central Michigan and 10 in the Maui semis against San Diego State. He had six of his nine double-digit scoring performances off the bench in 2003-04, including 20 points in a win over Temple. For the season, Scott averaged 6.3 points (fifth on the team) and 3.6 rebounds (third on the team). He shot a team-high .824 (33-40) from the line, but fell ten attempts short of the 50 needed to qualify for UD's Alex Schoen Memorial Free Throw Trophy. Scott won the 2003-04 Thomas M. Luppe Memorial Award, which is given annually to the team's best new player. As a senior at Reynoldsburg High School in 2002, Scott was named Third Team All-Ohio Division I, averaging 18.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.2 blocks and 2.1 steals a game. A three-year starter, he once scored 30 of his team's 45 points in a regular season game vs. Pickerington. Reynoldsburg finished 16-8 and reached the district finals that year. Monty has one sister named Christina (27). Monty is the son of Curtis and Rita Scott Career Statistics
