Player Profile

Position:
Assistant Coach

Alma Mater:
Detroit-Mercy (1995)

Mike Jackson came to Dayton after seven seasons as an assistant coach-five at his alma mater, the University of Detroit, and two at the University of Toledo.

A four-year letterwinner for the Titans, Jackson was the first Detroit player to score 1,000 points and dish for 400 assists in his career. He ended with 1,125 points (currently 22nd at UDM) and 422 assists (7th). He played against the Flyers six times in his career, with a best of 17 points and seven assists during his senior season.

After graduating from Detroit in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Jackson began his coaching career with the Titans. In the five years he was a coach at Detroit, he helped the Titans to two NCAA appearances in 1998 and 1999. In addition, Detroit reached the semifinals of the 2001 NIT.

Jackson then moved to Toledo where he was on Stan Joplin's staff for two seasons. Interestingly, Dayton head coach Brian Gregory and Joplin worked together at Michigan State and at Toledo when Joplin moved from MSU to become the head coach at his alma mater.

"Mike's passion for coaching and recruiting really sets him apart," said Gregory. "The players respect his experience and knowledge while enjoying his inspiring coaching style. His attention to detail has such a positive impact on every aspect of our program."

The Detroit native and his wife Amira have a three-year old son Mylan and daughter Amani, born in October of 2004.
