NEW YORK - Former University of Dayton right-handed pitcher Craig Stammen earned his first MLB win the Washington Nationals victory over the New York Yankees 3-0 in the Bronx on Thursday at Yankee Stadium.

In 6.1 innings pitched for the Nats, Stammen recorded two strikeouts while blanking New York without allowing a walk.

During his time as a Flyer, Stammen surged to second in UD history for single-season wins with nine and fifth in strikeouts with 77. He was a member of the 2005 team that set the previous school record of 36 wins which was broken by this year's Dayton team.
