TRUBEE NAMED TO ATLANTIC 10 ALL-CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM
May 30, 2006 BRONX, NY - Senior UD pitcher Luke Trubee was one of 12 players selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team on Sunday after the conclusion of the 11-game tournament hosted by Fordham University. Trubee, a righthander from Xenia, Ohio, was honored following a complete-game shutout of George Washington, 2-0, on the tournament's opening day. In his final collegiate appearance, scattered five hits and walked just one batter while striking out six for his 30th career victory, the most by any pitcher in Flyer history. The 2006 Honorable Mention All A-10 selection is also the all-time strikeout king at UD with 218 career strikeouts including a single-season 82 in each of the past two years. He hurled the second most complete games in Dayton history (18) en route to 315.0 innings pitched in 63 appearances including 44 starts, which are all the second most ever. Trubee was joined on the 2006 All-Championship team by Tourney Most Outstanding Player Ryan Bird and Bill Mussleman of Saint Louis; Matt Agostinelli, Randy Moley, Joe Rizzo and John Zinnicker of St. Bonaventure; and Andrew Abokhair, Dan Pfau, Derek Haese, Charlie Kruer and Josh Wilkie of George Washington. Dayton (33-24) finished with its fourth 30-win season since 2001 at 33-24 under the direction of seventh-year Head Coach Tony Vittorio. The Flyers also advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championships for the second consecutive season and won their first round game for the second time in four appearances overall. UD placed third out of 14 teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference, which is the largest baseball conference in the nation. |
