TRUBEE NAMED TO NATIONAL HONOR ROLL FOR SECOND TIME
May 23, 2005 DAYTON, OH - University of Dayton junior pitcher Luke Trubee earned his third Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week award this season on Monday while also being named to the National College Baseball Foundation's National Honor Roll for the second time, following his complete-game shutout of Richmond on Friday. It was Trubee's second-straight complete-game shutout as he extended his scoreless innings streak to 17.1. Against the Spiders, he fanned five and yielded just five hits to win his league-best and school-record 12th game of the season. He ranks second in the NCAA in wins boasting a 12-2 record. He has three complete game shutouts on the season, tied for tops in the Atlantic 10. The 6-3 workhorse from Xenia, Ohio, leads the A-10 in innings pitched and is fourth in ERA at 2.51. He's also fifth in strikeouts with 80 and second in runners picked off with five. Trubee last gave up a run in the fifth inning on May 7 against Duquesne. In that stretch, he's struck out 11 while walking just two. Dayton has won eight of its last nine games, including becoming the first team to complete a three-game sweep of Richmond in an A-10 series. UD enters the Atlantic 10 Championship with a school-record 34 wins at 34-21, 16-8 in the A-10. The Flyers meet Duquesne on Wednesday at noon in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship at the home of the Dayton Dragons, Fifth Third Field. |
