GODZIK NAMED TO COLLEGE BASEBALL FOUNDATION NATIONAL HONOR ROLL
May 16, 2005 PHILADELPHIA - Senior outfielder Brandon Godzik was named to the College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll Monday. He was also tabbed as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after leading the Flyers to a 4-1 record last week. Godzik is the second Flyer this season to be honored by the College Baseball Foundation. Luke Trubee was also named the the Honor Roll on March 28. Overall, UD has won six A-10 weekly awards this season. A Dayton player has been named A-10 Player of the Week four times (Bobby Getty, twice; William Benoit and Godzik, once) and A-10 Pitcher of the Week twice (Luke Trubee, both times). Godzik, a Vandalia-Butler grad, hit four home runs in five games last week as Dayton secured its third-ever 30-win season and its third berth in the Atlantic 10 Championships, May 25-28 at Dragons Stadium in Downtown Dayton. He was 6-for-16 overall with five runs scored and nine RBI on the week. Godzik hit two home runs in a 13-12 win over Toledo on Wednesday and was also 2-for-4 with two RBI and a pair of runs scored in a 16-0 rout over Xavier Sunday. Godzik is hitting .303 on the year with a .382 on base percentage and a team-best 20 walks. He also tied for the team-lead with seven home runs while ranking second with 39 RBI and has an Atlantic 10 best seven sacrifice flies. Godzik has also hit seven doubles and scored 32 runs this season. Dayton returns to action with four home games this week to round out its regular season schedule. UD hosts Otterbein Tuesday at 4 p.m. Then A-10 foe Richmond comes to Time Warner Cable Stadium for a three-game series Thursday and Friday. Games are scheduled to begin at noon each day. |
